Vision and Mission

"He who has a why to live for

can bear with almost any how"
- Friedrich Nietzsche

Upeksha

“The fourth element of true love is upeksha, which means equanimity, nonattachment, nondiscrimination, evenmindedness, or letting go. Upa means “over,” and iksh means “to look.” You climb the mountain to be able to look over the whole situation, not bound by one side or the other. If your love has attachment, discrimination, prejudice, or clinging in it, it is not true love. People who do not understand Buddhism sometimes think upeksha means indifference, but true equanimity is nether cold nor indifferent. If you have more than one child, they are all your children. Upeksha does not means that you don’t love. You love in a way that all your children receive your love, without discrimination. Upeksha has the mark called samatajñana, “the wisdom of equality,” the ability to see everyone as equal, not discriminating between ourselves and others.”

Our Vision

Upeksha - Voices of Resilience envisions a world of compassion, equality and love. A world where everybody, without distinction of any kind, is heard, understood and is given the chance to live a fulfilling life. A lot of the world's suffering, hate and violence is caused by social divisions that lead to discrimination, stigmatization and dehumanization. To promote mutual understanding, compassion and empathy, Upeksha aims to shed light on those living in darkness, co-creating spaces for every voice to be heard and understood, paving the way to global solidarity and indiscriminate love.

Our Mission

Our mission is to co-create spaces that amplify the voices of marginalized individuals and communities that historically have been ignored and silenced. We aim to alleviate dehumanization, stigmatization and discrimination around the world by providing spaces of visibility, empowerment and creative realization to promote equality, inclusiveness and compassion, while mitigating psychological injuries caused by human suffering, which stand in the way of a global society of indiscriminate love and prosperity.
