Tendrá Un Final - Sucre

Tendrá Un Final

Tendrá un Final

by Free Soul & Fortune Machine

"Defending this Colombia, for the farmers, black, indigenous.

A call to my Colombia, no more victims among their leaders."

Tendrá un Final is homage to those who fight for a better Colombia, a call to have no more victims and violence, and a personal reminiscence of Yan Carlos, a.k.a. Free Soul, of his own roots that were taken away from him. Specifically the songs honours women in the department of Sucre fighting for a better Colombia. The video was a result of the trip we made with Free Soul to Sucre, as part our project Voices of Sucre. While most of our videos within this project document their stories, their voices and their cultures, this song is to honour them.

Tendrá Un Final - Free Soul & Fortune Machine

Lyrics (Spanish) Lyrics (English Translation)

The song was written by Free Soul and produced by Fortune Machine who also sings the chorus. In October 2021 we had the opportunity to visit Sucre with Free Soul to learn about their stories and share them with the world. Learn more about this project here. The song is a tribute and thank you to all those in Sucre fighting for a better Colombia, sometimes putting their own life's on the line. Yan Carlos also used this trip to share his own experiences with youth in Sucre. He gave several workshops on drug consumption and how to deal with addiction. The video includes shots of Yan Carlos's workshops, as well as the faces of those on the front lines of positive social change in Sucre. Finally, the song is also a personal reminiscence of his Yan Carlos's roots, as he writes:

"Remembering great stories of my mom, my hero.

this majestic black woman for her love and her food"

Yan Carlos is not able to visit his mom and his hometown for safety reasons. His music is a way for him to express his pain, as well as his love, that will never be taken away from him. While he cannot go visit his hometown and help out there, he can contribute to the work of the women in Sucre.

"They're women with their heads up,

transforming this Colombia".

This song a tribute to women: those who cared for us when we were little, those who work hard for a better world, those with whom we would be nothing without.
